Construction of a new open-air concert arena on the Black Sea coast
Client: Association ATU | Completion: 2016
"An open-air concert arena with a capacity of approximately 9,000 spectators has been built on the Georgian Black Sea coast, designed to offer some protection from the wind, sun and rain for the audience area. The rising, semi-circular seating tiers of the open-air auditorium face the large stage, much like in an ancient theatre. Beneath them are visitor foyers, VIP areas, four cinemas, as well as ancillary and technical rooms.
On the stage side, a U-shaped, six-storey building provides space for a temporary storage area, a cafeteria, changing rooms and the administrative offices. A shared steel roof structure, combined with surrounding translucent slats that can be illuminated from within, unites the auditorium and the stage building into a large-scale form visible from afar. The roof surface above the audience area can be opened, and all the slats are rotatable, enabling the Black Sea Arena to adapt to different weather conditions and situations. Depending on requirements, it can remain calm and unobtrusive within its surroundings, or open up invitingly for events to welcome visitors."

Sparkling moments. Stylish golden lights.
A lounge area at the Black Sea Arena in Georgia has been fitted with lighting from SATTLER.
The elegant, tube-shaped TIA pendant lights are lined up along the bar. They lend a golden glow to the bar and cast a pleasant light onto the bar for guests and staff alike.
Round light ceilings look like skylights
Along the corridor running the length of the room, several large, round recessed luminous ceilings illuminate the elegant grey tiled floor. The ceiling – and with it the lights – is reflected in the polished tiles. The recessed ceiling lights are designed and framed in such a way that they appear to be skylights, with natural light illuminating the rooms.
Ornate lighting sets the scene for dazzling grand performances.
