The Concept Behind SLIM – Architectural Ring Lights with a Calm Presence

Not every space needs a loud statement. Some spaces demand clarity, order, and focus. SLIM was developed precisely to meet these requirements.

 

With the aim of shaping light thoughtfully without overwhelming the space, SLIM reduces the ring luminaire to its essential design elements: precise geometry, delicate proportions, and controlled light distribution. Its ultra-slim aluminium profile, measuring approximately 20 × 23 mm, reinforces this approach, as do the clearly defined diameters ranging from Ø 380 to 1900 mm.

 

SLIM is available as a direct, indirect, inward- or outward-emitting ring light and can be used as a pendant, surface-mounted, wall, or table luminaire. High-quality powder-coated, brushed, or hand-polished finishes, combined with LED technology offering excellent colour rendering (CRI > 90), ensure precise lighting quality in demanding architectural projects.

Beautiful chandelier styles have evolved from the SLIM series. They’re definitely worth a look! Discover the INSIEME and TOCCATA. Even the smaller TRIS light rings can be considered part of the SLIM range, though their suspended version makes them a distinctive “quirky type.”

 

Design & Origin

SLIM is part of the consistent evolution of SATTLER ring luminaires. Following earlier, more prominent series, SLIM was deliberately developed as an exceptionally delicate variant, emphasising lightness and precision.

 

Under the design direction of Ulrich Sattler, a ring luminaire was created that impresses not through volume, but through proportion, materiality, and light quality. SLIM is not a stylistic departure, but a logical progression: less profile, more space.

 

Manufactured in Germany, SLIM also represents long-lasting quality and sustainable production. The precise craftsmanship of the aluminium profile, along with project-specific customisation options, ensures enduring architectural value – both in commercial projects and high-end residential construction.
