Acoustically effective triangular pendant lights SOFT DELTA L+A by SATTLER welcome guests in the open foyer of the glass building "Infinity in Amsterdam".

A "spaceship", a "shoe", “Dustbuster” or "Skate" – in any case, a special futuristic stilt house built for the ING Group.

"Our extravagant roadside building for the ING Group stood on metal stilts, as if stepping into the future, and was a breakthrough for our office – and for sustainable architecture."

MSVA Architects

In 2002, MSVA Architects created this futuristic, innovative and, thanks to a special double-walled design, energy-saving glass and aluminium building for the ING Group. In 2015, the ING Group moved its headquarters to a new location and the developer CBRE Global Investors took over the building. Under its new name, Infinity, it is now a business complex housing several different companies. MSVA Architects were again asked to assist with the refurbishment to ensure that the building's distinctive appearance and functionality were retained.

Acoustically effective foyer lighting

Floating triangular lights create a pleasant waiting atmosphere

Reception halls and foyers – immediately after the exterior view – have a decisive influence on the first impression of a building. It is here that visitors subconsciously decide how they perceive the atmosphere, value and appeal of a building. The design of this sensitive space must therefore meet high standards. A well-thought-out lighting concept effectively supports the architectural statement. The design language, colours and surfaces of visible luminaires are just as important as the lighting effect itself – only when these elements work together harmoniously can a coherent overall picture be created.

The Soft Delta L+A acoustic solution achieves precisely this balance. The characteristic design language reflects the company's corporate design and, with its high-quality materials and surfaces, underlines the sophisticated character of the reception area – both visually and acoustically.

Acoustic luminaires create space for conversation

The SOFT DELTA L+A luminaires, in the form of rounded triangles (luminaires from the SOFT luminaire series), create their own small area in the foyer. They are suspended at different heights above the seating in the foyer waiting area in two different sizes. The homogeneous light creates a pleasant atmosphere and the acoustically effective material inside reduces the reverberation in the high, open reception area, making it a pleasant place for visitors to arrive.

Luminaire design: Aluminium luminaire profile with internal diffuser and additional stretched acoustically effective fabric. The white fabric has an absorption coefficient αw = 0.9 and has fire protection class B1. One luminaire – two solutions. The fabric covering which acts as a light and acoustic diffusor creates a homogeneous, gentle light, and drastically reduces the reverberation time, thus creating a comfortable atmosheric enviroment.
