Waiting area at the Kreissparkasse

- Visitors surrounded by an interplay of shapes and materials -

A distinctive, modern waiting and lounge area has been created at the Kreissparkasse bank in Tuttlingen. It features bright, comfortable wingback armchairs in solid colours. The surrounding area is clad in light-coloured exposed concrete, creating an angular open space above. Looking further upwards, the gaze glides through rounded triangular shapes – SOFT DELTA ring lights made of white powder-coated aluminium – and continues upwards through a glass roof, opening up a view of the sky.

And above us, the sky

Pendant lights and a glass roof – is that possible?

A challenge or issue that crops up time and again, particularly in the context of foyer lighting: a pendant light is to be suspended in a beautiful, high-ceilinged building with a glass roof. And yes, this does require specific expertise, but it is possible.

With high ceilings, it is also important to ensure that there is no loss of voltage, and there are the specific mounting requirements for a glass roof to consider.

A solution now frequently implemented by SATTLER is to suspend the luminaire using a pendant canopy. This cylindrical pendant canopy sits close to the luminaire and houses the technical components for the luminaire, meaning that power losses are not an issue. All that is then required on the ceiling or glass roof is a small transfer canopy.

Repetition of the triangular shape

The repetition of forms creates a sense of familiarity and often has a calming effect. Consequently, the SOFT DELTA has been incorporated once again, this time next to another lounge area and above a flight of stairs. Naturally, the only difference is the way it is suspended, as compared to the glass atrium.
