Bespoke office lighting as an integral part of the architecture

At Hinterkopf in Eislingen, a bespoke PALADIO solution combines lighting, room Acoustics and building services. Square frame luminaires and rectangular lighting systems define the layout of offices, meeting areas and communal spaces – precisely tailored to the striking wooden ceiling and the exposed technical installations.

The result is office lighting that meets functional requirements whilst also becoming an integral part of the architecture.

Clean lines for modern workplaces

The interiors thrive on the contrast between the warm wooden ceiling, exposed services and glass partition walls. The precise profiles of the PALADIO PRISM 54 consistently carry this architectural language forward.

Above the workstations, square LED pendant lights with direct and indirect light provide balanced illumination. The direct light helps staff to concentrate on their work, whilst the indirect light brightens the wooden ceiling and lends the rooms added depth.

A range of sizes, from 1,000 × 1,000 to 1,460 × 1,460 millimetres, allows for precise adaptation to room size, furnishings and intended use. Lighting and lighting scenes can be controlled flexibly via Casambi.

Lighting, acoustics and climate control in a single unit

For selected work areas, the square PALADIO PRISM 54 luminaires were manufactured as a project-specific custom solution. Precisely cut felt Acoustic elements are integrated within the luminaire frames. Custom-made cut-outs accommodate the existing air-conditioning units and integrate them seamlessly into the overall design.

Rather than installing lighting, room Acoustics and building services as separate components on the ceiling, these functions are combined into a clearly structured element. The necessary technical equipment remains visible, yet appears aesthetically organised and deliberately integrated into the architecture.

The result is a calm, unobtrusive ceiling finish – despite the high functional requirements.

Planning Insight: Thinking about building services early on and collaboratively

In open-plan ceilings in particular, every technical element influences the overall effect of the room. If lighting, Acoustics, air conditioning and lighting control are planned together at an early stage, conflicting installations can be avoided.

In the Hinterkopf project, PALADIO is therefore used not merely as an individual light fitting, but as a bespoke ceiling element. The system’s modular design makes it possible to adapt dimensions, mounting methods and technical recesses precisely to the specific room layout.

A comprehensive lighting system for different areas

In addition to the square frame luminaires, project-specific rectangular PALADIO 54 systems are used in both recessed and pendant versions. They continue the clean design language in meeting areas, ancillary rooms and washroom facilities.

The various dimensions and installation methods were adapted to the specific structural conditions in each case. Nevertheless, a consistent appearance is achieved across all areas.

In this way, the office lighting provides guidance and supports a variety of uses without visually dominating the space.
